What started as a game jam project turned into the concept, development and launch of Kitty Hawk VR on Steam.
In order to test out the capabilities of the new HTC Vive, Ryan and Duncan Iaria had a game jam. During the short session, they developed the initial concept of a VR flappy bird game (all based in an 80s synthwave world, because why not.)

The name “Kitty Hawk” is a reference to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, famous for being the location where the Wright Brothers took their first manned flight. đŠī¸

My main role on this project was developing the visual style and marketing material. đī¸

We brought the game to several events to showcase our work and capabilities in VR, including to PixelFest in Norfolk, VA, and MAGFest and MAGLabs in Alexandria, VA.
Â
We would also regularly go to local breweries đē around Newport News, VA, and host mini “VR Nights” where we showcased our games to local clientele.
In addition to creating the marketing material, I also worked these VRcades to help setup players, market our company’s capabilities and took photos for our social media. đˇ
Success! Our game generated enough interest and support that we released a version on Steam!
